I went to the HTML and changed those "extra" fields to say "Eval" instead of "Bind" and it all started working again. The problem seems to be that the update methods adds extra parameters that do not match that of the parameters in the store procedure (non-generic method). My gridview is to large with all this columns . In the MSDN article, it refers to the class which hosts the method, not the return type of the method. Source

Non of the solutions posted worked for me. I really like the idea of separating the DAL from the presentation layer but I could write my own Data Access code with much less fuss. I kept my function as it is. [ex. No idea why.
