Some people have said to upgrade KDE, but I'm running Mandrake 10.0 and I wasn't aware that there's a new version.

Comment 5 Timo Nentwig 2005-11-18 19:27:25 UTC No. I am running Debian Woody with KDE2 at the moment. Upgrade is your best path. https://forums.techguy.org/threads/klauncher-could-not-be-reached-via-dcop.283251/ I'm not aware of having done anything on my system or its configuration...

KDE applications communicate with klauncher over DCOP in order to start new applications or services. qt-copy seems not to have the KDE release tags, and at least one project I checked a few days ago already had what seemed to be the final 3.1 tag. Trouble? When kdeinit starts for the first time it will launch dcopserver , klauncher , and kded , as well as any additional programs specified on its command line in the startkde KLMs work just like binary program files but can be started more efficiently.

I have no idea what DCOP is, but I checked all the running programs and found that there is indeed something called kdeinit: dcopserver running.

Best known from the error message: KLauncher could not be reached via DCOP which either indicates a serious problem with the dcopserver or that klauncher crashed. Trouble? And if I try to start kdeinit: --------------------------------- It looks like dcopserver is already running. have a peek at these guys If you're new to Tech Support Guy, we highly recommend that you visit our Guide for New Members.

Comment 13 Frank Röske 2007-05-30 20:37:20 UTC I have the same problem: I log in KDE and then after 1-60min I get the message that KLauncher could not be reached. Relogging solves the Issue for another 1-60min, but actually, this is rather annoying.

No more than a few emails daily, which you can reply to/unsubscribe from directly from your inbox. There just isn't time to figure out what's really going on. In my machin this prob occures often.

nobody cares about yer stupid database. Restarting or logging out does work, but it's annoying to have to do that. dcopserver dcopserver is a daemon which provides inter-process communication (DCOP) facilities to all KDE applications. KLMs live in $ KDEDIR /lib/kde3

The drawback is that programs started this way appear as kdeinit in the output
